Mount Rainier at Paradise: Still an active volcano, Mount Rainier towers over the surrounding countryside, dominating every scene that it is in. As little as 5,000 years ago, scientists estimate that Rainier was even higher, topping out at over 16,000 feet before a major mud flow took off the top. Today, Mount Rainier stands a little over 14,400 feet tall.
