Fence posts are a frequent perch for snowies as they scan the wide flat fields of Ontario for prey. I didn't consider photoshopping out the fence since it's an integral part of the owl's life space.

Yes, the barbed wire has a special effect in that it shows how exquisitely and enviably free the owl is, to be able to transcend such obstacles. :)

Jack, I actually like the barbed wire . to me, it give a contrasting linear dimension to an otherwise organic composition

Nebraska about 9years ago said: Yes, Rob, this was the very last shot on the last day, sun fading fast, a red glow between the cloud cover and the horizon. It couldn't have lasted more than five minutes. I had the camera on manual exposure (and guessed) because I couldn't trust the light reading.
