Superb lighting! The fence post and barbed wire give the picture a solid base. It's beautiful.

Hello Jim How can you tell?? Christine :)

Thank you, Christine, Laura,Jill, Rob, Jack, Greg, and Amanda. Jack, I'm sorry you don't like the barbed wire fence. Fence posts are a frequent perch for snowies as they scan the wide flat fields of Ontario for prey. I didn't consider photoshopping out the fence since it's an integral part of the owl's life space.

Why do you men look at technicalities when there is such a lovely bird to admire, which none of us normally would see.???

To add to my former comment: Yes, the barbed wire has a special effect in that it shows how exquisitely and enviably free the owl is, to be able to transcend such obstacles. :)

Jim...again...superb. I love the light caught in Chelsea's left eye! Jack, I actually like the barbed wire . to me, it give a contrasting linear dimension to an otherwise organic composition

Yes, Rob, this was the very last shot on the last day, sun fading fast, a red glow between the cloud cover and the horizon. It couldn't have lasted more than five minutes. I had the camera on manual exposure (and guessed) because I couldn't trust the light reading.

As many repeats as you have, Jim. You are either a wizard or some other magical being who beckons nature and nature unfolds her most beguiling mysteries to you, that remain hidden most other observers. I'm still waiting for your website. :)
